Lindy Hop is pure joy and Swing music will make you dance too! Either at our exuberant parties, concerts or in class here in Basel.
Can you put one step in front of the other? Then you will soon be dancing Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston or Solo Jazz. No matter if you come with or without a partner. Even with previous knowledge we offer you different course levels!

Swing music has power and rhythm and will turn your head in just a few beats. Swing dances are couple dances, in which you can bring your individuality and in which you can live out your creativity as a leader or follower. At the same time, swing dance culture catapults you into an energetic dance community that welcomes everyone!
Since 2012 the LINDY HARBOUR is the place to go for swing dancing in Basel and the surrounding area. No matter if you want to learn Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston or Solo Jazz, we teach you all these swing dances with dedication and a lot of experience, so you can have fun at our parties and concerts as soon as possible!

In our swing dance classes, workshops and parties in Basel, many different people come together - and dance with each other. Therefore, you can also register individually or come to the party alone. Because in the end you will dance with many, very different people.
GET TO KNOW NEW THINGS
Swing is deeply rooted in African-American culture. This is indicated, for example, by improvisation, the heart of jazz and therefore also of swing; because swing is jazz. To get involved in improvisation, to enjoy this freedom, is a great pleasure. Also the agile, relaxed style of authentic Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Charleston can clearly be traced back to African dances.
STAY OR BECOME FIT – IN BODY AND SOUL
Dancing keeps you physically and mentally fit! This is proven by research and also by dance legends like Norma Miller, Frankie Manning and Dawn Hampton, who were still dancing Lindy Hop at the age of 80 and even 90! The reason is surely the sheer happiness that swing is famous for.

Here you can get an overview of the different swing dances that we teach with enthusiasm and great pleasure at several locations in Basel. Our dance classes and workshops teach you steps and technique, of course, but most of all the spirit of swing. Because:

LINDY HOP AND CHARLESTON
Lindy Hop and Charleston are improvised couple dances. They are about teamwork and the connection between the dancers. Mainly about having fun and celebrating swing music. We show you the steps to couple dancing and the spirit in it on site in our Swing dance school in Basel!

SWING DANCE PARTIES
From swing dance classes to party! The so-called social dance was originally the real purpose of swing dancing, and for very many it still is today. That's why we organize unforgettable swing dance parties at great locations in Basel. The atmosphere is intoxicating and often there is live music, e.g. from our own band, the Lindy Harbour Sextet.
Before each party there is a crash course in Lindy Hop, Balboa or Solo Jazz. Here, even complete beginners can quickly learn a few dance steps and can then dance right along at the party. So bring all your loved ones with you!
